About the role

The Medical Cost Assistance Program Representative supports self‑pay patients by guiding them through Medicaid enrollment and related financial assistance programs. This position plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive the coverage they need while maintaining accurate records within the health system.

Key responsibilities

• Interview self‑pay patient referrals and explain program benefits.
• Complete, submit, and track Medicaid applications using EPIC and census reports.
• Assign Federal Poverty Level status, update billing indicators, and maintain insurance coverage data in EPIC.
• Provide timely follow‑up with patients, state agencies, and internal teams regarding application status.
• Deliver high‑quality customer service while respecting patient privacy and adapting communication style.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of customer service, healthcare, or office experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage fluctuating workloads, and make decisions with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Computer and data‑entry skills, including Windows‑style applications.
• Ability to retrieve and input information accurately across multiple software packages.
