Medical Assistant – Rheumatology Clinic

About the role

The Medical Assistant will provide individualized care to patients in the Rheumatology Clinic, supporting the provider throughout each visit and ensuring smooth patient flow. This full‑time, on‑site position involves direct patient interaction, documentation, and coordination of care under the supervision of a licensed health care provider.

Key responsibilities

• Support patients and providers before, during, and after each visit, preparing exam rooms and ensuring all necessary materials are ready.
• Answer patient questions, provide clear communication over the phone and in person, and complete registration and documentation as needed.
• Maintain accurate clinical records using the organization’s electronic data systems.
• Adapt interactions to respect patient privacy and cultural preferences.
• Comply with departmental policies, including drug testing programs and safety regulations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED; preferred completion of a formal medical assistant training program.
• Experience handling confidential information in a fast‑paced environment.
• Medical Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications for clinical documentation.
• Clinical knowledge relevant to rheumatology patient care.
