Medical Assistant – Primary Care

About the role

The Medical Assistant, Primary Care provides direct and indirect patient care in a pediatric primary‑care office, working under the supervision of a pediatrician or nurse practitioner. The role supports safe, high‑quality care and a welcoming environment for children and families at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients, maintain a clean and safe exam room, and ensure necessary supplies are available.
• Perform and record vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, and respiration rate.
• Assist clinical staff with patient care tasks such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, and immunizations.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and follow infection‑control policies.
• Provide age‑appropriate patient intake and support a friendly, compassionate environment.

Required profile

• At least one year of medical assistant experience, preferably in pediatrics.
• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or equivalent) within six months of employment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced setting.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy and specimen‑collection techniques.
• Accurate measurement of vital signs.
• Basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
