Medical Assistant - Outpatient Oncology

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction, is hiring a Medical Assistant for its outpatient oncology practice. The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled specialist who assists the physician in all aspects of the medical practice under the physician's direct responsibility, handling both patient care management and administrative and clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination
• Enter lab and imaging orders
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
• Update patient medical records
• Answer phones and schedule appointments
• Remove sutures and dressings
• Transmit prescription refills
• Vital signs and other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program, or three years' experience in a medical office if not
• One year in a medical office setting preferred
• Medical assistance certification preferred
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for healthcare providers
• Knowledge of outpatient medicine, patient care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, and common safety hazards
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and carry up to 20 lbs, sit for long periods, and work under stress
