Medical Assistant II – Clinical Research

About the role

The Medical Assistant II supports clinical and field‑based research at Texas A&M AgriLife's Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture. Working under the health‑care provider and the MHAC Clinical Manager, the role ensures safe, high‑quality patient care and accurate data collection in a bilingual environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the medical assistant team in delivering patient care and maintaining clean exam and treatment rooms.
• Mentor and train staff and student workers, assisting the supervisor with supervision duties.
• Collect research data daily, including vital signs, anthropometric measurements, and body‑composition assessments (Bod Pod, Pea Pod, InBody 770) per study protocols.
• Perform specimen collection, ensure biosafety compliance, and coordinate study procedures.
• Interact verbally and in writing with participants in English and Spanish.

Required profile

• Works under general supervision of a health‑care provider.
• Demonstrates leadership as the lead medical assistant.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory.
• Experience in clinical or research settings preferred.

Required skills

• Vital signs measurement.
• Anthropometric measurement (height, weight, waist circumference).
• Operation of body‑composition equipment: Bod Pod, Pea Pod, InBody 770.
• Specimen collection and data entry.
• Biosafety compliance.
• English‑Spanish bilingual communication.
