Medical Assistant I – Full‑Time

About the role

The Medical Assistant I provides hands‑on patient care and supports clinical procedures within the University of Miami Health System. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, the role emphasizes safety, quality, and culturally competent service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms, gather supplies, and assist providers during physical examinations.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and document findings in the patient’s medical record.
• Maintain sterile technique, clean and sterilize instruments, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete laboratory forms, and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team, and adhere to HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA) preferred.
• No prior experience required; strong learning agility and teamwork orientation.
• Ability to use office software and relevant computer applications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
