Medical Assistant - Cancer Institute (Per Diem, Days)

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction, is hiring a Medical Assistant for its Cancer Institute on a per diem, days basis. The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled specialist who assists the physician in all aspects of the medical practice under the physician's direct responsibility, handling both patient care management and administrative and clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Vital signs and vitals monitoring
• Preparing patients for examination
• Entering lab and imaging orders
• Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
• Updating patient medical records
• Answering phones and scheduling appointments
• Removing sutures and dressings
• Transmitting prescription refills
• Performing other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program, or three years of experience in a medical office if not a program graduate
• One year in a medical office setting preferred
• Medical Assistant certification preferred
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for healthcare providers
• Knowledge of outpatient medicine, patient care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, and medical equipment
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions

• Ability to make sound decisions, work independently and stay detail-oriented
• Manual dexterity for typing and data entry; able to sit for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs, carry and lift up to 20 lbs
