Medical Assistant 2 – Full‑Time Clinical Support

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Surgery is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant 2 to support clinical operations in Miami. The role involves assisting medical and nursing staff with patient examinations, treatments, and administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs, patient information, and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Administer injections, dressings, and assist with physical examinations.
• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain accurate patient records.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete lab forms, and transport patients within the hospital.
• Supervise electronic fax queue, review overnight messages, and coordinate surgical scheduling.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years relevant experience.
• Approved Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA) or proof of completion with agreement to obtain certification within 12 months.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional Continuing Education certification.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.

Required skills

• Certified Medical Assistant credentials (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and HIV/AIDS certification.
• Proficiency in vital‑sign measurement, injection administration, and sterile technique.
