Medical Assistant 1 – Full-Time Clinical Support

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Operations Diabetes program is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant 1 to provide direct patient care in a busy outpatient setting. Working under the supervision of a licensed physician, you will support providers and ensure high‑quality, culturally competent care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies and instruments for each patient visit.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and basic laboratory tests, documenting results in the medical record.
• Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures, maintaining aseptic technique.
• Administer medications as directed, escort patients, and transport them within the facility.
• Clean, sterilize, and inventory medical instruments and supplies.
• Schedule patient tests, complete required forms, and provide discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation while protecting privacy.
