Mechanical Engineer - Special Programs

About the role

Saronic Technologies is pioneering autonomous maritime solutions. The Special Programs team rapidly prototypes innovative ideas, turning concepts into physical prototypes that shape future products. As a Mechanical Engineer you will design, build, and test complex electromechanical systems for autonomous platforms and edge devices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical assemblies and systems for diverse maritime applications.
• Generate initial concepts, create CAD models, and produce detailed engineering drawings.
• Perform rapid sub‑system and full‑system prototyping, experimentation, and validation.
• Select and evaluate designs for reliability in harsh marine environments.
• Collaborate with vendors and manufacturing partners to source and assemble components.
• Support field testing and government demonstrations.

Required profile

• Proven experience building complex systems from scratch, especially autonomous platforms.
• Background in marine, aerospace, robotics, or automotive hardware development.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced startup environment with limited resources and tight timelines.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX).
• Hands‑on fabrication experience (machining, welding, hand‑tools).
