About the role
Space Dynamics Laboratory’s Strategic & Military Space Division is seeking a self‑motivated Mechanical Designer to create 3D solid models and production drawings for space hardware and ground support equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop detailed CAD models for satellite and sensor systems and associated ground support equipment.
- Generate fabrication and assembly drawings, applying appropriate tolerancing.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to meet schedule, cost, and design requirements.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; active Top Secret clearance preferred.
- 10+ years of professional experience with 3D solid‑modeling CAD software.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
Required skills
- 3D solid‑modeling CAD (NX CAD)
- Teamcenter PLM
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and system‑level tolerance analysis
- Cable harness routing
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fixturing, and tooling
- Experience with surface treatments, finishes, and part inspection
