Mechanical Design Build Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Design Build Engineer to lead the build and integration of its autonomous service vessels. This cross‑functional position bridges design engineering and production, ensuring high‑quality, reliable vessels are delivered at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, analysis, and construction of autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs).
• Collaborate on CAD modeling, structural, mechanical, and electrical design, and weight management for vessel optimization.
• Act as liaison between engineering, drafting, and production teams to resolve design and construction challenges.
• Identify non‑conformances, lead root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective actions through Issue Review Boards and rework plans.
• Lead and coordinate Engineering Change Orders, ensuring traceability, communication, implementation, and verification.
• Support integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs.
• Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and documentation for internal, regulatory, and client use.
• Manage CAD models to capture changes during ship construction and support sea‑trials and at‑sea testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with maritime industry standards such as ABS and Coast Guard regulations.
• Strong fundamentals in structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering principles.
• Experience working in a shipyard or aboard ships.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, quality teams, and leadership.
• Comfortable working in an industrial shipyard environment.

Required skills

• 2D and 3D CAD software: Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX.
• Interpretation of technical drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and fabrication tolerances.
• Weight management and vessel optimization.
• Engineering Change Order management.
• Root‑cause analysis and issue resolution.
