Mascot Coach – Spirit Squad

About the role

The Mascot Coach leads the Razorback mascot program, overseeing training, performance, and community engagement for the university’s spirit squad. This position works closely with athletics staff to ensure the mascot presence enhances game day experiences and university events.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct weekly practice sessions, team meetings, and team‑building activities for mascot members.
• Attend all home football games and assigned basketball, baseball games, pep rallies, and other events where mascots perform.
• Maintain and care for mascot costumes, props, and related equipment.
• Schedule and manage appearance requests and coordinate tryouts and auditions.
• Communicate regularly with team members about performance, academics, personal growth, and any emerging needs.
• Collaborate with the Director of Spirit Programs and the Associate Athletics Director of Fan Engagement on community outreach initiatives.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience as a mascot or spirit‑squad member at high school, collegiate, or professional level.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of coaching experience in middle/high school, club, all‑star, collegiate, or professional settings.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel to select away games.
• Strong attendance record and ability to foster harmonious working relationships.
