Marketing, Communication, and Events Intern

About the role

DefenseWERX’s ERDCWERX program is seeking a Marketing, Communication, and Events Intern to support technology transfer and transition initiatives. The role offers exposure to an innovative environment, mentorship, and professional development while working 10‑20 hours per week on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with ERDCWERX teams to develop and implement marketing, communication, and event plans.
• Assist in planning, designing, and executing promotional initiatives.
• Support coordination and execution of on‑site and virtual events, including scheduling and facility setup.
• Help promote workforce development activities and educational opportunities.
• Contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Enrolled in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field at an accredited institution.
• Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain a security clearance or ITAR license.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with professional social media platforms.
• Basic web design knowledge.
• Photography and video production capabilities.
• Graphic design and business writing skills.
