Marine Service Technician – Ballast Water Treatment (NY/NJ)

About the role

As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for executing field service, commissioning and troubleshooting on board vessels. The position supports international service jobs coordinated by the Global Marine Service Coordinator and contributes to the growth of Alfa Laval’s marine business.

Key responsibilities

• Execute service jobs on board vessels, including installation support and inspection of PureBallast equipment.
• Diagnose, solve and report technical issues, even when third‑party equipment is involved.
• Commission new ballast water treatment systems and recommission existing ones.
• Perform compliance services such as filter inspection, cleaning and water sampling.
• Conduct performance audits, review and create SOPs, and provide technical support to global specialists.

Required profile

• Technical degree (preferred) with relevant marine service experience.
• Knowledge of CRM systems, planning tools and database handling.
• Electrical and automation expertise, including EPC 50/60 and boiler controllers.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours and travel to harbors across the Northeast region.
• Strong customer focus and ability to coach colleagues on complex technical issues.

• PLC and instrumentation & control.
• CRM systems, planning tools, database handling.
• Commissioning and troubleshooting of ballast water treatment systems.
• Compliance activities such as filter inspection and water sampling.
