Manufacturing Test Software Engineer

About the role

Red 6 is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Test Software Engineer to lead the development, validation, and deployment of production test systems for complex aerospace electronic assemblies. The role ensures full PCBA, sub‑assembly and system‑level test capability at both Red 6 and contract‑manufacturer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, release and maintain manufacturing tests, scripts, tools and related artifacts using Python or C/C++.
• Define test coverage, acceptance criteria and failure‑reporting standards for PCBA, sub‑assembly and system‑level production tests.
• Specify and oversee the design of jigs, fixtures and system‑level test racks, and validate repeatability and reliability.
• Support test implementation at contract‑manufacturer facilities, troubleshoot failures, drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ensure test processes meet DOD, aerospace and IPC standards and maintain documentation, validation reports and configuration control.

Required profile

• 7+ years of production software test engineering experience, preferably aerospace/defense.
• 5+ years of coding experience with Python, C/C++ or similar test platforms.
• Strong background in PCBA and system‑level electronic test.
• US citizenship; security clearance a plus; travel to contract‑manufacturer sites required.

What we offer

• Base salary $128,000 – $168,000 per year, dependent on experience.
