Manufacturing Technician - Custom Gears

About the role

Highway Machine Co., a family-owned company founded in 1921, is looking for a Manufacturing Technician in Princeton, Indiana. The role focuses on P&H operations in a custom job shop, supporting the production, finishing, material handling and preparation of large, custom-manufactured gears and components. You will work alongside experienced manufacturing employees in a fast-paced environment where quality, safety and attention to detail matter.

Key responsibilities

• Perform P&H operations including part finishing, preparation and other production support
• Carry out finishing processes such as deburring, sandblasting, shot peening and painting
• Load, unload and move large components and materials using forklifts and overhead cranes
• Prepare and package completed parts for shipment
• Read and follow work orders, blueprints and engineering specifications
• Maintain material flow between departments and production areas
• Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance or equipment issues
• Keep the work area clean, organized and safe, and follow safety, quality and company procedures
• Communicate with coworkers and other departments and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work safely around large equipment and components
• Ability to read and follow work orders, blueprints and written instructions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be authorized to work in the United States

Preferred, but not required

• Manufacturing or industrial experience
• Forklift or overhead crane operation
• Sandblasting, shot peening, painting or other finishing experience
• Experience with large components or heavy industrial equipment
