Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Sesame is building a new kind of computer that integrates voice agents into everyday life. As a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer you will own the mechanical process and fixturing that turn hardware designs into repeatable, high‑yield builds, working closely with contract manufacturers in Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop assembly fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing tooling using 3D CAD.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for international fabrication partners.
• Procure, assemble, validate, maintain, and improve fixtures and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues to boost quality, yield, and throughput.
• Manage external partners developing fixtures, test systems, and equipment.
• Collaborate with factory operations leadership to meet quality and operational goals.
• Work with automation vendors to deploy and optimise robotic manufacturing solutions.
• Support NPI and process development alongside the U.S. engineering team.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, tooling, or related fields.
• Proven track record taking consumer‑hardware products from prototype to volume manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience working directly with contract manufacturers and holding technical discussions.
• Comfortable spending time on the factory floor and closing the loop between design intent and actual builds.

Required skills

• Expert MCAD and 3D CAD skills for fixture and tooling design.
• Strong knowledge of materials (plastics, metals, adhesives) and processes such as machining, injection molding, stamping, fabrication, and assembly.
• Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), failure analysis, and data‑driven yield improvement.
• Familiarity with robotic manufacturing, automation, and NPI processes.
