Manager, Ophthalmic Service – Retina Neuro

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Manager for the Ophthalmic Service focusing on Retina and Neuro specialties. The role oversees administrative support, staff supervision, and operational initiatives to enhance patient care and departmental growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative oversight, issue resolution, and coordination for assigned clinical specialties, programs, and projects.
• Supervise support staff, ensuring timely response, effective use of EMR, patient portal, and scheduling systems across onsite, virtual, and hybrid appointments.
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures and training materials for department functions.
• Support service line expansion through business proposals, financial analysis, and industry research.
• Manage project implementations, documenting plans, timelines, workflows, and status updates for new technologies and processes.
• Create reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor provider productivity, clinic cycle times, patient volumes, wait times, slot utilization, and no‑show rates.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in daily operations.
• Experience supervising administrative staff in a clinical environment.
• Strong analytical skills for data analysis, reporting, and presentation to leadership.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities to drive process optimization and departmental growth.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures and training documentation.
• Ability to conduct financial analysis and prepare business proposals.
• Competence in creating reports and dashboards to track operational metrics.
