Maintenance Technician – Shift Role in Valley, NE

About the role

As a Maintenance Technician at 3M in Valley, NE, you will join a global team of innovative 3Mers, applying your technical expertise to keep plant and production equipment running smoothly. The role involves hands‑on work with a variety of tools, interpreting blueprints, and performing installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate machine and hand tools such as drill presses, band saws, grinders, drill motors, disc sanders, taps, levels, pipe‑thread machines, and arc/gas welders.
• Read blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions to fabricate or repair components made of steel, sheet metal, plastic, or wood.
• Move, install, level, trim, grout, set up, and start up plant or production equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic piping.
• Maintain inventory of assigned tool cabinets, carts, and hand tools, record daily time, and gather required data.
• Perform general mechanical and electrical/electronic repairs, preventive maintenance, and adjustments on all plant, facilities, and production equipment while adhering to safety standards.

Required profile

• Two‑year technical degree or higher in a maintenance‑related field.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and fixed 2nd (3:00 pm‑11:30 pm) or 3rd (11:00 pm‑7:30 am) shifts, with short‑notice shift coverage.
• Four years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with drill presses, vertical and horizontal band saws, pedestal grinders, drill motors, disc sanders, files, taps, levels, pipe‑thread machines, and arc/gas welders.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Installation of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic piping systems.
• Inventory management of tools and equipment.
• General mechanical, electrical, and electronic repair techniques.
• Preventive maintenance procedures.
