Utilities Facilities Management Intern

About the role

Join Merck’s Utilities Facilities Management team in Rahway, New Jersey as a Fixed‑Term Intern/Co‑op. In this role you will support the planning, analysis and improvement of utility systems across the site, contributing to energy‑saving initiatives and ensuring compliance with cGMP standards. You will work closely with engineering, maintenance and quality teams to apply data‑driven solutions, perform root‑cause analyses, and assist in the development of maintenance plans and process designs. The internship provides exposure to a regulated manufacturing environment and offers the opportunity to develop hands‑on experience with FMEA, Lean Six Sigma, and utilities management tools. You will be involved in documenting engineering standards, supporting project estimations, and collaborating on continuous improvement projects that enhance operational efficiency. The position requires a valid driving license and willingness to work on‑site in a hazardous material environment. This internship is ideal for students pursuing degrees in engineering, metallurgy, mechatronics, or related fields seeking practical experience in a global pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.
