Maintenance Technician (DTAE) – Full-time Campus Role

About the role

The Maintenance Technician (DTAE) provides skilled and semi‑skilled support for the upkeep of West Georgia Technical College’s facilities and grounds. Working primarily on the LaGrange campus, the role ensures that equipment, vehicles, and building systems remain safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain college equipment and vehicles, documenting work in electronic order systems (55%).
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical and plumbing systems and associated hardware (20%).
• Perform grounds‑maintenance tasks such as landscaping, herbicide/pesticide application, and parking lot upkeep (5%).
• Maintain fire alarm, sprinkler, and security systems (5%).
• Assist with carpentry and renovation projects as needed (5%).
• Respond to emergency repair requests (5%).
• Perform other assigned duties (5%).

Required profile

• Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance tools, equipment, and practices.
• Understanding of safety policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC system maintenance and repair.
• Ability to operate computers and job‑related software.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift, push, carry heavy items and work on ladders.
• Capability to read and apply construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license.
