Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor – Public Works Department

About the role

The Public Works Department of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor to lead the Facility Sustainment Branch. In this position you will oversee the maintenance, repair, alteration and operation of all buildings, utilities, roads and grounds at Naval Station Activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and monitor ongoing maintenance support functions, including technical analysis and material distribution.
• Ensure shop work is completed safely, on schedule and within budget.
• Distribute work assignments and adjust staffing levels to meet workload requirements for building, fixture and utility repairs.
• Provide direct supervision and guidance to non‑supervisory shop personnel across multiple trades.
• Evaluate workmanship, identify training needs and ensure quality standards are met.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise personnel in a maintenance environment.
• Knowledge of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for trades and labor occupations.
• Experience that shows sufficient knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties, regardless of length of service.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including possible call‑backs, overtime, evenings and weekends.
