Litigation Counsel – Music & Entertainment Tech

About the role

This strategic litigation position supports a fast‑growing music and entertainment technology company at the intersection of content, distribution, and digital media. You will advise senior leadership on complex disputes involving copyright, licensing, AI‑generated content, and emerging media technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Handle litigation and pre‑litigation matters related to music, entertainment, copyright, and commercial disputes.
• Advise on copyright infringement, ownership disputes, licensing conflicts, royalty issues, and digital enforcement.
• Support matters involving AI‑generated content, platform enforcement, and emerging technology risks.
• Draft pleadings, motions, manage discovery, negotiate settlements, and oversee dispute resolution.
• Provide strategic guidance on copyright, trademark, licensing, and digital media risk.
• Partner with outside counsel, oversee litigation strategy and budgets.
• Conduct early case assessments and advise leadership on litigation risk.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with executive leadership, business affairs, publishing, finance, and creator partnership teams.
• Help develop internal guidelines, playbooks, and systems for dispute prevention and rights management.

Required profile

• J.D. and active membership in both California and New York state bars.
• 5–8+ years of litigation experience focused on music, entertainment, copyright, or IP matters.
• Prior law‑firm experience handling complex disputes and direct client representation.
• Strong command of U.S. copyright law, trademark law, and entertainment industry practices.
• Experience advising record labels, publishers, digital platforms, or entertainment companies.
