Licensed Practical Nurse (Pulmonary Care)

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction, is hiring an LPN for its pulmonary care unit. The LPN provides direct patient care and helps run daily clinical operations, delivering care as identified by the pulmonary practice. The position also crosses trains to support clerical duties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care and promote effective communication between patients, staff, physicians and visitors
• Perform mask fittings for CPAP devices and other machines used to treat sleep apnea
• Teach patients how to use inhalers, give self-injections and operate CPAP machines and other devices
• Complete drug authorization and follow documentation requirements in the Epic medical record system
• Take vital signs, update medical history and complete medication reconciliation
• Collect specimens and run tests according to laboratory policy and procedures
• Assess the environment for patient safety and choose appropriate equipment
• Answer phones and faxes, maintain a clean environment, keep supplies stocked and ensure current credentials and certifications
• Follow clinic procedural standards, support the center's mission and values, and perform other departmental duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school for LPNs
• Current LPN licensure in Florida and BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment and to lift up to 50 lbs and push or pull up to 40 lbs
• Annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, TB/PPD surveillance program, and maintenance of professional licenses and certifications
