Licensed Practical Nurse (Cancer Care)

About the role

AON Oncology is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its Central Georgia cancer care practice. The LPN assists physicians and registered nurses in patient care, working under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse and at the discretion of the head nurse. Pay range is $20.60 - $32.41.

Key responsibilities

• Mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents safely and accurately, following ONS standards and guidelines.
• Dispose of biohazardous waste correctly per OSHA and HRS guidelines.
• Obtain lab samples, perform technical lab procedures and follow specimen handling and processing procedures; send specimens to outside labs according to the patient's insurance plan.
• Maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records and checklists.
• Perform port access procedures and administer injections after a complete symptom assessment.
• Document treatments accurately in OncoEMR, prepare superbills and follow the AON ID policy for each patient.
• Educate patients and families about medications, side effects and the planned treatment course.
• Prioritize incoming calls and messages and respond within an appropriate time frame.
• Help with inventory and restocking of medical supplies, recommend purchases, and enter patient charges into Nucleus.
• Attend annual safety/OSHA training and mandatory staff meetings, train new employees, and comply with patient privacy and other legal requirements.

Required profile

• State license as a Licensed Practical Nurse; experience in IV therapy in a clinic or hospital is preferred.
• An approved 30-hour IV certification course is mandatory where required by state, or must be completed within 90 days of employment.
• Current CPR and BLS certification.
• Fluent English and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license in the resident state to travel to clinics.
