Job description
About the role
You will be the founding reliability engineering hire, responsible for ensuring the wearable device performs reliably in real‑world conditions and meets all safety, regulatory and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end reliability strategy: test plans, qualification protocols, accelerated life testing and certifications across all subsystems and regions.
- Drive design‑for‑reliability: lead FMEA reviews, participate in design reviews and embed reliability discipline early in the product development process.
- Define and execute qualification test programs covering environmental, mechanical, wireless, battery and biocompatibility requirements.
- Establish internal test capability and manage external lab partnerships, owning test fixtures, sample plans and pass/fail criteria.
- Lead certification efforts for FCC, CE/RED, IC, RoHS, REACH and battery/body‑worn approvals.
- Partner with hardware, firmware, audio, camera and design leads to ensure EMC, ESD, component‑level and thermal robustness.
- Manage field quality post‑launch: set AFR/MTBF targets, analyze returns, conduct root‑cause investigations and drive corrective actions.
Required profile
- 10+ years of reliability engineering experience in consumer hardware with at least one shipped product where you owned reliability from concept through field.
- Deep knowledge of consumer‑electronics qualification standards (IEC 60068, IEC 61000, JEDEC, IPC) and regional certification requirements (FCC Part 15, CE/RED, IC RSS, battery and body‑worn specifics).
- Proven ability to design accelerated life tests and apply statistical reliability methods such as Weibull analysis and acceleration models.
Required skills
- Accelerated life testing, HALT/HASS test design and execution.
- Statistical reliability analysis (Weibull, sample‑size design).
- FMEA leadership and design‑for‑reliability practices.
- Regulatory certification processes (FCC, CE/RED, IC, RoHS, REACH, UN38.3).
- Biocompatibility testing standards (ISO 10993 family).
What we offer
- Competitive base salary and meaningful equity package.
- 401(k) with company matching.
