Lead Firmware Engineer

About the role

Lead the architecture and delivery of firmware for a cutting‑edge wearable that combines EEG/BCI sensing with AI. You will own the distributed‑compute platform across multiple MCUs, working closely with hardware, AI/ML, audio, and camera teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement firmware for media & connectivity MCU, sensor‑acquisition MCU, and always‑on MCU, including RTOS selection, task structure, inter‑processor protocols, OTA and time synchronization.
• Drive low‑power firmware, state‑machine design, privacy enforcement, and thermal control on the always‑on MCU.
• Build multi‑MCU time‑sync layer to correlate EEG, audio, and camera data.
• Establish engineering practices: build/release pipelines, on‑device telemetry, automated testing, OTA with safe rollback, and field debug tooling.
• Partner with EE, reliability, and external contract‑manufacturer teams for hardware bring‑up, boot path, and ASIC integration.
• Ship the product by year‑end and scale the firmware team for production.

Required profile

• 10+ years of embedded firmware engineering with at least one consumer product shipped end‑to‑end.
• Deep expertise in embedded RTOSes and bare‑metal ARM Cortex‑M across multiple ecosystems (e.g., Zephyr, FreeRTOS, ESP‑IDF, ThreadX, NuttX).
• Hands‑on experience integrating real‑time DSP runtimes and wireless connectivity on resource‑constrained MCUs.

Required skills

• Embedded firmware development for ARM Cortex‑M.
• RTOS platforms (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, ESP‑IDF, ThreadX, NuttX).
• Multi‑radio coexistence (Wi‑Fi + BLE), low‑power state‑machine design, OTA with safe rollback.
• Lab tools: JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, protocol sniffers.
• DSP integration, audio, camera capture pipelines.
• Time‑sync across multiple MCUs.
