Laboratory Technician I – Veterinary Research

About the role

The Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences seeks a Technician I to support ongoing research projects in the Veterinary Integrative Biosciences department. This part‑time, on‑site position involves hands‑on laboratory work, data collection, and collaboration with faculty, graduate students, and research staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in conducting experiments and technical procedures related to bacterial research.
• Maintain daily lab cleanliness, organization, and equipment upkeep.
• Update inventories, process samples, and perform bacterial culturing and quantification.
• Carry out phenotypic and genotypic characterization of bacterial isolates.
• Conduct literature reviews and document findings accurately.
• Participate in laboratory meetings and communicate results promptly.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; combination of education and experience accepted.
• At least two years of laboratory or related experience.
• Ability to follow standard procedures while applying ingenuity when needed.
• Strong attention to detail and reliable record‑keeping.
