Lab Technician II - Anatomic Pathology

About the role

Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus is hiring a Lab Technician II in the Anatomic Pathology department. The role ensures that patient specimens and their information are accurately received, documented, processed and prepared for analysis. It is described as a steppingstone for people interested in laboratory careers. The schedule is 8:30am to 5:00pm, days.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
• Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens
• Investigate specimen issues and verify accurate documentation
• Maintain patient, specimen and tracking data in the laboratory computer system
• Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject them
• Perform manual processing such as centrifuging and aliquoting, and routine maintenance
• Complete preventive maintenance and records, place work orders, and train or mentor new hires, students and clinical learners as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of lab experience
• An associate's degree in science is preferred and can substitute for the required experience
• Reliability, attention to detail, a positive and collaborative approach, and the ability to multitask
• Able to handle biohazardous materials, lift up to 50 lbs, and follow standard precautions with personal protective equipment
