Lab Tech III – Bone Marrow & Lymphoma

About the role

The Laboratory Technician III supports the Hematopathology team with bone marrow and lymphoma case management at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus. The role involves advanced specimen processing, data entry, and liaison duties for subspecialty clients.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, accession, and process specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), including esoteric testing.
• Perform advanced tracking investigations, issue resolution, and maintain logs.
• Prepare frozen section slides, create cell block slides, and assist with cytology adequacy assessments.
• Conduct manual processing tasks such as centrifugation, aliquoting, and routine equipment maintenance.
• Retrieve, sort, track, and deliver specimens within and outside the lab using tracking software/devices.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in a science field with two years of lab processing experience, or four years of Lab Technician experience, or active enrollment in the Cleveland Clinic MLS program.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Medical Laboratory Science and related lab or research experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and data analytics.
• Slide preparation, frozen section processing, and cell block creation.
• Manual specimen handling techniques, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
• Use of tracking software/devices for specimen logistics.
