Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II – District 1

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II for District 1 in Canton. Under general supervision, you will provide social services that support the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders who are in custody or on probation.

Key responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to assess progress toward rehabilitation goals and compliance with probation contracts.
• Recommend remedial or court action when offenders fail to meet probation or parole conditions.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing, including random screens, to ensure compliance with treatment programs.
• Maintain detailed case files for each assigned offender and prepare progress reports.
• Conduct investigations, provide pre‑hearing screenings, and testify in court regarding offender backgrounds and sentencing recommendations.
• Coordinate medical, mental health, and substance‑abuse treatment services as ordered by the court.
• Supervise community‑based sentences, including electronic monitoring and curfew checks at homes, workplaces, or schools.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field with two years of human‑services experience, or four years of direct case‑management experience with offenders, or two years in a lower‑level juvenile probation/parole position.
• Ability to evaluate offender behavior, recommend appropriate interventions, and document findings accurately.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with offenders, families, courts, and treatment providers.

• Understanding of juvenile justice statutes and rehabilitation planning.
