Junior/Mid Legal Counsel

About the role

Heidi, an AI‑driven health‑tech company, is seeking a Junior/Mid Legal Counsel to join its growing legal and compliance team. The role is open to qualified lawyers in Australia, Canada or the United States and involves providing practical legal advice across a wide range of commercial and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as SaaS contracts, healthcare provider agreements, data processing agreements and technology partnerships.
• Provide clear legal guidance that balances organisational risk with operational needs.
• Support product development and regulatory strategy for AI, large language models and generative AI.
• Assist with global expansion by addressing jurisdiction‑specific legal, compliance and health‑regulatory requirements.
• Lead or contribute to DPIAs, PIAs, risk assessments and regulatory submissions.
• Support certification efforts (ISO 27001, SOC2, Cyber Essentials+) and respond to due‑diligence and security reviews.
• Draft and maintain internal policies, contribute to governance processes and deliver internal training.

Required profile

• Qualified to practice law in Australia, Canada or the United States.
• 1–4 years of post‑qualification experience in commercial law, contracts, compliance or related areas.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, technology‑focused environment.
• Strong interest in AI, digital health and the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts.

Required skills

• Experience drafting and negotiating SaaS and technology‑related agreements.
• Knowledge of privacy, health law, employment/HR, leasing and commercial law.
• Familiarity with data protection impact assessments and regulatory submissions.
