Java Backend Engineer – Healthcare Platform

About the role

Lineate is seeking a Java Backend Engineer to join a US‑based MedTech project that powers a large‑scale, data‑intensive healthcare platform. You will work on core backend services, search optimization, and platform modernization while collaborating with AI‑assisted development tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and evolve REST APIs that handle complex healthcare business logic.
• Implement and optimize search functionality with Apache Solr/SolrCloud, including filtering, faceting, and geo‑aware queries.
• Maintain SQL/Oracle databases, data pipelines, and service integrations.
• Modernize shared libraries and migrate to Spring Boot 4.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, performance testing, and code‑quality tooling.
• Write unit, integration, and regression tests to ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with AI‑assisted coding tools (Kiro, GitHub Copilot) in a supervised workflow.

Required profile

• Strong experience developing backend systems in Java.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot and RESTful API design.
• Experience handling large volumes of structured data, preferably in healthcare or related domains.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative, agile team.
