Irrigation Foreman – Year‑Round Full‑Time

About the role

The Irrigation Foreman leads the installation, maintenance and repair of residential and commercial irrigation systems for DeHamer Landscaping. This full‑time, year‑round position supervises a field crew, manages daily job‑site operations and ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to company quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead an irrigation crew, planning loading/unloading of equipment and ensuring safety, productivity and quality on each job.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair sprinkler, drip, valve, controller, pump and mainline systems, reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications.
• Program and adjust standard and smart irrigation controllers to achieve proper coverage and water efficiency.
• Maintain accurate job records, material inventories and job notes while enforcing safety policies.
• Serve as the primary on‑site point of contact, providing clear updates to customers and communicating material needs to management.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on irrigation installation experience; crew‑leadership or foreman experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record and ability to operate trenchers and hand tools.
• Strong communication, organizational and problem‑solving abilities; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work outdoors in Michigan weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling and trench work.

Required skills

• Irrigation system installation (sprinkler and drip).
• Knowledge of valves, controllers, pumps and mainlines.
• Reading and interpreting irrigation plans, layouts and specifications.
• Programming and troubleshooting smart irrigation controllers.
• Operating trenchers and standard hand tools.
• Basic electrical knowledge related to irrigation components.
