Internal Communications Manager

About the role

The Internal Communications Manager will guide staff, volunteers, and chapter leaders through the integration of The Jed Foundation and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Reporting to the SVP of Marketing Communications, you will design and deliver clear, timely messages that keep the newly formed organization aligned with its mission.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute internal communications plans that support integration milestones and organizational priorities.
• Translate leadership decisions into consistent messaging across all‑staff meetings, Slack, email, newsletters, intranet, and chapter communications.
• Maintain an internal communications calendar to coordinate messages and avoid overload.
• Partner with the CEO, Chief of Staff, CFO, and Head of HR to create talking points, emails, slides, and updates for town halls and leadership briefings.
• Provide guidance on tone, clarity, timing, and channel selection for sensitive or high‑impact communications.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communicator with a passion for mission‑driven work.
• Experience crafting internal communications for distributed, nonprofit teams.
• Ability to work quickly in a fast‑moving environment and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Slack for internal messaging.
