Instructional Support Specialist, English

About the role

The Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) provides tutoring and academic assistance to students at Augusta Technical College’s Success Center. This position focuses on English language support, helping learners overcome immediate educational challenges and succeed in their coursework.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic support using strategic learning methods and address students’ immediate concerns.
• Prepare and adapt teaching materials to match each student’s ability, goals, and interests.
• Maintain a positive, encouraging attitude to foster student learning.
• Monitor, document, and report each student’s progress using the center’s monitoring software.
• Complete annual professional development activities and perform basic administrative duties.
• Work flexible hours (morning, noon, or evening) based on the Success Center’s needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (minimum).
• Master’s degree in the subject area is preferred.
• Familiarity with tutoring or supplemental instruction.
• Experience working with diverse populations and higher‑education retention programs.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Windows 11 operating system.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
