Infrastructure Engineering Director

About the role

FanDuel is looking for an Infrastructure Engineering Director to own its foundational cloud and outpost-based infrastructure layer. The role sets operational excellence, standardization and reliability across compute, networking, Kubernetes and cloud provisioning, and works closely with Platform Engineering leadership and product teams. It is a hands-on technical leadership position in Atlanta.

Key responsibilities

• Set infrastructure strategy and standards for cloud provisioning, observability, disaster recovery and cost governance
• Build and scale the infrastructure engineering team, create career paths and mentor engineers
• Own disaster recovery strategy, RTO/RPO definitions, testing and readiness
• Define SLOs/SLIs and alerting strategies for infrastructure services
• Manage AWS, outposts, Kubernetes orchestration, networking, mesh and compute provisioning
• Establish change management, incident response, post-mortems and continuous improvement
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, optimize cloud spend and plan capacity
• Lead production incident response across Kubernetes, networking, DNS, load balancing and service mesh
• Ensure infrastructure complies with regulatory and compliance requirements

Required profile

• Significant experience leading platform engineering, SRE or infrastructure organizations
• Experience driving platform, reliability or infrastructure strategy across teams
• Experience establishing operational discipline, disaster recovery and SLOs/SLIs
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to build scalable tooling and automation
• Ability to optimize cloud spend without sacrificing reliability

Required skills

• Deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture and operations, including multi-cluster management
• AWS cloud infrastructure, including VPCs, networking, IAM, EC2, EKS and Outposts
• Bonus: service mesh platforms (Kong Mesh, Istio, Linkerd, Envoy), Datadog, Prometheus, CNCF Kubernetes certifications
