Industrial Maintenance Technician – Shredders & Conveyors

About the role

CompuCycle is looking for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of shredders, conveyors, and related equipment at its processing facility. The role focuses on minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance and rapid troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial shredders, including SSI or comparable systems, and all associated components such as cutters, gearboxes, motors, and hydraulic systems.
• Service conveyor systems, addressing belt, roller, pulley, motor, and control issues, and perform tracking, tensioning, and alignment.
• Execute preventative and predictive maintenance on shredders, conveyors, pumps, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical controls, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, and wiring, and assist with installations and upgrades.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs, including bearing, belt, chain, and gearbox replacements.
• Document all maintenance activities in the CMMS and manage spare‑part inventory.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; technical or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in shredding, recycling, or heavy manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience with industrial shredders and conveyor systems; SSI shredder experience highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently, respond quickly to equipment failures, and follow strict safety and LOTO procedures.
