Industrial Maintenance Mechanic - Day Shift

About the role

Gerdau is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for its rolling mill in Charlotte, North Carolina, on a day shift. The day shift starts at $81,000-$96,000 per year depending on trade experience, and benefits start on the first day. The mill produces steel beams, flat-rolled steel, merchant bar, rebar, spikes and wire.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair so the mill, equipment, machinery and tools stay in good operating condition.
• Dismantle, repair, lubricate, reassemble and carry out general maintenance, acting as electrician, machine repairer or millwright.
• Start, observe and operate equipment to detect or verify malfunctions.
• Carry out preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting feed, speed, power input and output, cleaning and lubricating equipment.
• Tear down, replace, repair, install and assemble equipment, parts, components and accessories.
• Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards and improper operation of mill equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, with at least 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting, preferably with heavy machinery.
• Experience with mechanical or electrical repairs is required.
• Welding and fabricating experience is a plus.
• Flexibility to work Monday to Friday, 6a-4:30p.
• Team-oriented with communication skills to work with supervisors, engineers, maintenance staff and production operators.
