Hydraulic Engineer – Civil Engineer (Reno)

About the role

Wilson Engineers is seeking an experienced Hydraulic Engineer – Civil Engineer to join its Reno office, supporting Northern Nevada operations. This full‑time position offers relocation assistance for well‑qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic models using HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, and Flo‑2D.
• Develop hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting, with preference for prior floodplain modeling in Douglas County.
• Research jurisdictional drainage requirements and incorporate them into design and construction drawings.
• Oversee production of drainage design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Manage data and create exhibits with ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Mentor EIT staff on hydrologic and hydraulic theory and practice.
• Conduct site visits, document findings, and prepare graphic materials for presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum five years of drainage experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and solid knowledge of construction means, methods, and techniques.
• Ability to prepare civil‑engineering documents and specifications.
