Human Resources Manager for Labor & Employee Relations

About the role

The University of California State Fresno seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead labor and employee relations. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, you will independently develop solutions to complex labor issues, guide managers, and foster a respectful workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Administer labor contracts, grievance processing, and workplace investigations.
• Develop and implement programs that support managers in handling employee and labor relations matters.
• Provide expert guidance on employment law, collective bargaining agreements, and university policies.
• Collaborate with campus and systemwide stakeholders to create a fair and inclusive work environment.
• Serve as a resource for employees and managers seeking advice on workplace concerns.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of employment laws, collective bargaining agreements, and HR policies.
• Proven ability to manage complex labor relations cases and investigations.
• Strong judgment, independence, and ability to influence at all organizational levels.
• Experience in coaching, mediation, conflict resolution, and performance management.

Required skills

• Expertise in labor law interpretation and application.
• Skilled in grievance handling, investigation procedures, and policy development.
• Proficiency in facilitating mediation and conflict‑resolution processes.
