HR Director

About the role

The Human Resources Director will provide strategic and operational HR leadership for a nationally recognized media organization with approximately 1,800 union and non‑union employees across multiple U.S. markets. This fully remote, California‑based role reports directly to senior leadership and drives key initiatives in employee relations, labor relations, talent management, and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute people strategies aligned with business objectives across all locations.
• Serve as trusted advisor and coach to executives, managers, and leadership teams.
• Lead performance management, employee development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness programs.
• Oversee employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a focus on California regulations.
• Support both represented (union) and non‑represented employee populations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in multi‑site or geographically dispersed environments.
• Proven ability to partner with senior leaders in fast‑paced, complex settings.
• Strong background in employee and labor relations; experience with unionized workforces highly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of California employment law and federal regulations.
