Housing Specialist – Refugee Resettlement

About the role

The UHP Housing Specialist secures safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for newly arriving humanitarian parolees and refugees in Sacramento. Working closely with staff, clients, and community partners, you will help stabilize households and connect them with long‑term housing resources.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure affordable housing that meets program requirements for refugees and other vulnerable populations.
• Conduct outreach to landlords and property managers, build relationships, and coordinate home‑repair requests.
• Manage logistics of housing set‑ups, including furniture procurement, utility hookups, lease signings, payments, and safety inspections.
• Deliver client orientations, support pre‑ and post‑arrival activities, and maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of housing‑related professional experience.
• Experience working with refugee or immigrant populations is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to lift approximately 50 lb regularly.
• Fluent English; Ukrainian or Russian language skills are a plus.
