High School Special Education Teacher (Grades 26/27)

About the role

Brooklyn Lab is seeking a dedicated High School Special Education Teacher for grades 26/27. In a small, collaborative community, you will deliver rigorous, standards‑aligned instruction and support a diverse group of scholars on their path to college.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver Common Core‑aligned lessons that challenge and support each student.
• Implement differentiated and small‑group instruction to meet individual learning needs.
• Prepare and lead IEP meetings, maintaining clear communication with the CSE, families, and support staff.
• Use formative and summative assessments to guide instructional decisions.
• Facilitate advisory sessions that address scholars’ social‑emotional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in General Education or Special Education; Master’s preferred.
• New York State teaching certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Minimum two years of experience working with students, preferably in urban or low‑income settings.
• Demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to the school’s college‑preparatory mission.
• Growth mindset, teamwork orientation, and openness to feedback.
