Health Aide 2 – Night Shift

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a compassionate Health Aide 2 to join its night‑shift team. You will work in a hospital setting, supporting adults with serious mental illness, trauma histories, and behavioral challenges as they move toward recovery and community reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
• Take vital signs and prepare patients for medical appointments.
• Facilitate social skill development and self‑care routines.
• Lead group activities, including games and crafts, to promote interaction.
• Transport patients to appointments and campus events.
• Monitor patient areas to maintain safety and prevent conflicts.
• Conduct safety checks for prohibited items on the unit.
• De‑escalate upset patients and document observations in the electronic system.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and counselors as an integral care team member.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least six months of related experience, including one year as a Health Aide 1 or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of experience in a hospital, nursing home, group home, or similar setting.
• Experience working with individuals who have mental health or behavioral challenges.
• Ability to remain calm and kind in stressful situations.
