Head Start Teacher – New Madrid, MO

About the role

Provide a safe, supervised educational setting for children in the Head Start/Early Head Start environment, including classroom, outdoor play areas, and field trips. Encourage parent involvement and implement curriculum that supports school‑readiness goals and smooth transition into kindergarten.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a secure and nurturing learning environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
• Coordinate and deliver curriculum aligned with Head Start/Early Head Start readiness standards.
• Promote active parent participation in all program aspects.
• Ensure compliance with Federal Head Start Performance Standards and local policies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED plus Infant/Toddler CDA credential (or obtain within 3 months of hire).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education as specified for the position.
• Two years of classroom teaching experience preferred; ability to adapt curriculum for diverse learners.
• Valid Missouri driver’s license, proof of insurance, and personal vehicle for home visits.
• Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
• Completed physical exam at hire and annual updates; enrollment in the Child Care Division‑Central Background Registry.
