Head of Data Compliance

About the role

Build AI is looking for a Head of Data Compliance to lead the legal and consent framework for its rapid physical‑labor data collection efforts. You will author and enforce privacy, consent, and employment documents so that operations can scale without legal interruptions.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain consent forms, contractor agreements, privacy notices, data retention policies, and cross‑border transfer documentation for field collection.
• Embed privacy‑by‑design into collection workflows, including consent capture, data minimisation, retention/deletion, and access controls.
• Enable aggressive collection strategies across new countries and setups by ensuring legal compliance before deployment.
• Collaborate with operations, marketplace, and software teams to integrate consent and legality into product workflows.
• Handle trade and cross‑border issues for collection devices and data (e.g., US, China, emerging markets), determining what can be moved.
• Verify that field practices match documented policies and close any gaps.

Required profile

• Proven experience implementing privacy, employment/contractor, or data‑collection compliance in an operating company.
• Ability to draft legal documents and ensure they are applied correctly in the field.
• View legal work as an enabler of scale rather than a brake.
• Comfort with in‑the‑wild physical‑labor collection and rapid international expansion.
