Hazmat Waste Coordinator (IAG1)

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Hazmat Waste Coordinator (IAG1) to join the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) team at one of its highly automated fulfillment centers. The role serves as the primary liaison between Operations and WHS, overseeing internal hazardous waste disposal and coordinating with external waste vendors to ensure safe and efficient handling.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize health and safety best practices in all activities and report to the WHS department.
• Liaise with waste vendors and internal teams to manage day‑to‑day hazardous waste collection and disposal.
• Verify condition of waste containers and storage areas on a regular basis.
• Coordinate Tier 1 AA hazmat‑trained associates for tasks such as moving full carts and compacting waste.
• Monitor and record quantities of hazardous waste generated, maintaining accurate inventory and consignment documentation.
• Ensure proper classification of hazardous waste and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Escalate non‑compliance issues or regulator complaints to the Operations Area Manager.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback to the WHS manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and shift work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.
• Strong communication skills to interact clearly with multiple departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Basic knowledge of hazardous waste handling and classification procedures.
