Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Systems Engineer II

About the role

We are looking for a HIL Systems Engineer II to join our Irvine team. In this on‑site position you will design, develop, and maintain hardware‑in‑the‑loop test systems that validate embedded vehicle control software.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop HIL test rigs for vehicle controllers, integrating sensing, measurement, and control hardware.
• Set up, maintain, and document HIL infrastructure; execute tests to verify compliance with design specifications.
• Collaborate with subsystem and firmware engineers to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Partner with platform teams on system architecture, actuator control, electrical safety, and fault protection simulations.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of HIL hardware failures and capture lessons learned.
• Propose and implement improvements to increase test coverage and efficiency.
• Work with HIL firmware engineers to evaluate hardware APIs for simulation needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience with HIL test systems (e.g., DSPACE, NI VeriStand).
• 2+ years working with embedded control systems, vehicle subsystems, or high‑voltage safety practices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and quickly identify root causes.
